Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer Coating To Protect In Severe Environments

Epoxy Zinc rich coating is used to protect steel surfaces from corrosion. It is one of the more effective means of sealing critical equipments from moisture, protecting it from rust and corrosion. Zinc will self-destruct to protect the steel substrate, which will become the cathode. The resistance to corrosion is dependent on the transfer of galvanic current by the zinc primer, but as long as the system conductivity is maintained and there is enough zinc to act as an anode, the steel will be galvanically protected.

Protexion the protective Coating and solution provider offers tailor-made solutions for specifiers, project engineers, architects, facilities managers and applicators. Our depth of experience and technical expertise enables us to work with you to provide long term and sustainable solutions for the protection of new and existing buildings, infrastructure, facilities, plant and equipment.

Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer Coating

Application & Preparation of Zinc Rich Coating

The zinc rich coating is completely ready for use with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Solvents can be used to dilute the material if necessary. Prior to using, mix Zinc-rich coating in the container with a drill mixer-paddle to a homogeneous condition. A zinc-rich coating can be applied to a worked surface with a brush, roller, spray gun, or by dipping.

The working composition is applied to a clean and degreased surface no later than 12 hours if the metalwork was done outside, and 48 hours if the metalwork was done inside. Regardless of the method used to apply the composition to a prepared surface, hard-to-reach welds and areas should be painted with a brush first before applying the composition with painting equipment.

 Applying with a brush

The brush should be with natural bristles, and free of dust and other contaminants. There is no need to dilute Zinc rich coating with a solvent in standard conditions.

Applying with a roller

The roller should be made of a material resistant to organic solvents, and free of contaminants nd earlier used VPM. There is no need to dilute Zinc-rich coating with a solvent in standard conditions.

Applying with an air spray gun

Contaminants and previously used VPM should be removed from the equipment. If needed, Zinc-rich coating is diluted with solvent or xylene to 5% of weight.

Precautions to Take Applying Epoxy Zinc Rich Coating

·        The construction and curing required maintaining adequate ventilation.

·        Premature exposure to rain or condensation in the state, affecting colour and lustre.

·        Heat resistance: resistance to dry heat up to 200 °C.

·        Weather resistance: When there is no separate outer protective coating, some chalking and yellowing may occur.

·        Chemical resistance: resistant to most alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbon solvents and solvent spills and overflows; not directly used in the acidic environment of use; if no suitable overcoat Do not use strong alkaline environment; when a suitable overcoat when neutral salts, basic salt resistance is excellent.

·        Wear resistance: completely cured after a good wear resistance.

·        Compatibility: polyurethane-based coating can be used with good support.
